Negative news= negative mood!

Hello Very Happy People!

I have spent 4 weeks experiencing how different habits affect my happiness. For 28 days I watched (or listened or read) 4 hours of news a day! News is 95% negative so the four hours a day of news was successful at affecting my normal positive and happy mindset. It was the worst start and end to my day possible! I don't recommend it. If you read any personal development or sales book most of them will recommend avoiding news everyday! I do.

Any negative stimulus will make your mind negative.

Negative thoughts are just like negative mood food for the brain. Negative mental food, negative mood.

I will give you an example

Here are a few of my favourite quotes to inspire you;

Have a HAPPY day!

Very Happy Phil

Remember,
"Avoid the news! The news is negative food for the brain! It will make you think and feel negative!"

Happy people have a meaningful life!

Hello Very Happy People!

Happy people have a meaningful life. They spend part of their day, week or life doing something which is of benefit to someone or something significant. A meaningful life is a regular commitment to the service of others e.g. homeless, environment, poor, mentally ill, learning difficulties, abused humans or animals, something significant.

I will give you an example; I enjoy writing my weekly emails but I only realise and appreciate that they my email each week is meaningful if I get a reply like, "Hi Phil had a really rotten week and lots going wrong came in today feeling very down and pessimistic but read your mail and surprisingly enough feel bit better!!! Worry a bit less thanks". I carry out the task of writing emails on happiness and giving talks on happiness in order to help increase the happiness of others. I find these tasks meaningful when I know I am helping! So if you find my emails increase your happiness or if you find following the advice from my emails increase your happiness let me know please. Thanks.

Here are a few of my favourite quotes which inspire me;

"Happy people dedicate themselves to meaning. They have a lot of "fun", but they also spend much of their time in meaningful pursuits- activities and projects that they find significant and important. What's important to you? What do you do that holds meaning and significance? If you don't know, you need to think about it. If you do know, you ought to spend some of your time each week doing the things that are really meaningful to you."

Happy people are optimistic & positive!

Hello Very Happy People!

Happy people are optimistic and they think positively. Definition;
Optimistic thinking- expecting future events to work out favourably
Positive thinking- to view something positively

We can choose positive thoughts and we can learn to be more optimistic in situations of adversity. By choosing to be positive and optimistic we are choosing to be happy! Optomistic people have better health, better luck and more happiness! But its beneficial to avoid being TOO optimistic!

I will tell you a little story; I am naturally optimistic. Sometimes in the past I've been overly optimistic. One of the best lessons for me was reading an interview with Admiral Jim Stockdale a prisoner of war for 8 years in Vietnam. He explained that optimistic prisoners expected to be released quickly but "died of a broken heart" within 2 years of capture when they weren't. "This is a very important lesson. You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end- which you can never afford to lose- with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be. I never lost faith. I never doubted not only that I would get out, but also that I would prevail in the end and turn the experience into the defining event of my life, which, in retrospect, I would not trade."

Here are a few of my favourite quotes to inspire you;

"Happy people are found, in study after study, to be extremely optimistic and tend to think positively."
