Best Possible Self!

Hello!

One of my favourite proven happiness boosters is envisaging our best future and ‘Best Possible Self’ and writing it down in full detail.

So if we want to be happier we must do this! I have done this, broken it down into actions and think about it everyday. It is most effective if we envision ourselves in the distant future before we consider the near future and what actions to take now. Tiger Woods plans his shots from hole to tee before he hits his tee shot. Arnie think ahead too.

One of the reasons Arnold Swartzeneggar has become Mr Universe, Mr Actor and Mr Governor (and Mr Kennedy) is because he wrote them all in his 50 year plan over 30 years ago!

We can change our character if we want. I will give you an example; when I went from primary school up to secondary school I made a conscious decision to be more outgoing and less shy and therefore new class mates accepted this as my personality and character and never knew the ‘shy Phil’. (I became a psychologist before I was 13 years old! :)

I will tell you a little story; I decided to stop drinking on 9th April 2004 after I felt a good night was slightly destroyed because I was drunk. I decided that I still wanted the confidence and silliness I got from drinking but without the handover. I have been the designated driver (and wanna be confident clown) ever since!
